Mount View high school 2015/2016 girls basketball preview

November 21, 2015

Team: Mount View High School Girls Basketball

2014-15 Record: 4-14

Head Coach: Tony Staffiere, 1st year

Expectations: We have a new coaching staff with a brand new set of expectations both on and off the court so there will be an adjustment period for all of us.

With several key contributors returning from last year, expectations are to show improvement in all facets of the game but at the same time compete for the entire 18-game schedule. We have seniors who have played a lot of minutes in the last three years, so they will be asked to lead us in all three phases of the game every night.

Strengths: Versatility. We have good size and two players who can play back-to-basket and face up to 20 feet depending on the match-ups. We also have a backcourt who is confident enough to shoot the open three.

Challenges: Challenges would include an entirely new system of play for returning players and a coach who has never been a head coach at this level. Both players and coaches will be working extremely hard to build chemistry and trust with each other.

Depth will be a challenge to deal with. We have a nine-player roster this season with one returner who is injured and scheduled to return in mid-December. We will have to experiment with different combinations in order to rest our starters enough to close games out in the fourth quarter.

Key Players: Jenni Nadeau (Forward)
Megan Elkins (Point Guard)
Halle Reynolds (Guard)
Andrea Crosby (Center)

Coach’s Remarks: I am extremely honored to be taking over the Girls Basketball Program here at Mount View High School. The Administration and Community have offered so much support to our staff. This is an entirely new challenge in my 16 years of coaching basketball and I cannot wait for December 4th at Winslow.
