George Stevens/PCHS will meet in key early season girls basketball clash

A class C girls basketball tilt will highlight the first day of the first full week of the high school basketball season. The Piscataquis community high school (PCHS) Pirates will host George Stevens in a matchup that will feature two teams that are expected to be near the top of the standings all season.

The teams were picked second and third in class C in the Eastern Maine Sports preseason predictions. George Stevens rolled to a 55-15 victory over Deer Isle-Stonington. Morgan Dauk led the Eagles with 22 points and 19 rebounds. Delani Bennett recorded 15 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists to lead the Pirates in a 47-38 win over Schenck in their season opener.

Other girls basketball games on Monday include- Mattanawcook at Houlton, Dexter at Penquis, Calais at Washington Academy,Stearns at Penobscot Valley, Bucksport at Sumner, Bangor Christian at Katahdin, Lee at Schenck, Deer-Isle Stonington at Searsport, Limestone at Ashland, Machias at Shead, East Grand at Southern Aroostook.

The boys basketball schedule in Eastern Maine is a light one for Monday. Bangor Christian at Katahdin, East Grand at Southern Aroostook, Woodland at Narraguagus, and Limestone at Ashland.
