Libby Cook is named Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 171 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, a total of eight Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations came in.  All eight lifted their team to season opening victories. Libby Cook helped Central start 1-0, with a 29 point, nine rebound performance against Mattanawcook. Amy Hallett scored 33 points in a PVHS win over Katahdin.

Kate Whitney had a big game in her first regular season game for Ellsworth high school. Emma Alley filled up the stat sheet in a Stearns win over Lee. Megan McDonald led Highview Christisn to a season opening win over North Haven. Delani Bennett had a big game in a PCHS win on the road at Schenck, while Sidney Moore scored 18 points, including two free throws with 11 seconds left in a Nokomis 46-45 win over Mt. Blue.

Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

Libby Cook- Central- basketball- recorded 29 points and nine rebounds in 51-40 win over Mattanawcook. Cook is the fourth student/athlete from Central high school to earn athlete of the week honors. She joins Max McHugh, Andrew Speed, and Jordn Smith. McHugh was a five time winner.

Runner up

Amy Hallett- PVHS- basketball- scored 33 points in 66-42 win over Katahdin.

Other nominations

Emma Alley – Stearns- basketball- recorded 19 points, 10 steals, six rebounds, and five assists in 57-28 season opening win over Lee.

Kate Whitney – Ellsworth- basketball- scored 23 points in 53-39 win over Foxcroft.

Megan McDonald – Highview Christian- basketball- recorded 14 points, six rebounds, and three steals in 50-33 win over North Haven.

Delani Bennett- PCHS- basketball- recorded 15 points,11 rebounds, and four assists in 47-38 win over Schenck.

Sidney Moore- Nokomis- basketball – scored 18 points on 5-9 shooting from the floor and 7-8 from the foul line including 2 free throws with 11 seconds remaining as the Warriors won 46-45 on the road @ Mt. Blue.

Crystal Bell- John Bapst- basketball- scored 26 points, including five three pointers in 74-56 win over Caribou.
