Riley MacLeod is named Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 173 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations, including two from the same team. Riley MacLeod and Tyler Pye combined to make 23 free throws in lifting Bucksport to a win over Lee Academy. MacLeod is the sixth student/athlete from Bucksport high school to earn athlete of the week. He joins Mike Cummings (5-13-12), Kacie Hurd (9-16-12), Cassidy Adams – (5-19-13), Carter DeRedin- (5-23-15), and Samantha Goode- (6-21-15). Adams is a two time winner

Other nominations include Garrett Trask from Hermon high school and Bryce Gilbert from Piscataquis community high school.

Riley MacLeod – Bucksport – basketball- scored 26 points, including 12 for 12 from the foul line in 68-64 win over Lee Academy.

Runner up

Tyler Pye – Bucksport- basketball- Had 21 points, including 11 from the free throw line in 68-64 win over Lee Academy.

Other nominations

Garrett Trask- Hermon – basketball -the freshman recorded 13 points, three assists, two rebounds, two steals, and shot 3-4 from three point range in 47-42 win over Central.

Bryce Gilbert – PCHS – the sophomore had 22 points, 16 in the first half in 55-33 win over PVHS.
