Donovan Savage is named Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 173 athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had five Rowell’s Garage athlete of the week nominations. All five put up huge numbers. Donovan Savage averaged 30.5 points per game this week in two close wins. He hit the game winning shot to beat the buzzer in a 61-59 Caribou win over Orono. Savage joins Alexa Massey (12-30-12) as student/athletes from Caribou high school that have earned athlete of the week honors. Ben Morrill scored 39 points for Piscataquis Community High School in a 73-64 loss to Lee Academy. Hunter Smith averaged 24.5 points and 12.5 rebounds as the Foxcroft Ponies went 1-1 this week.

Other nominations this week include Logan Thompson from Mattanawcook Academy and Justin Thompson from Schenck high school.

Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Donovan Savage- Caribou- basketball- recorded 30 points, four assists, and three rebounds in 60-57 win over MDI. Scored 31 points, including the game winning shot to beat the buzzer in 61-59 win over Orono.

Runner up

Ben Morrill- PCHS- basketball- recorded 39 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and three blocks in 73-64 loss to Lee Academy.

Other nominations

Hunter Smith- Foxcroft- basketball- recorded 25 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists in 85-75 win over Mattanawcook. Recorded 24 points, eight rebounds, and two steals in 64-44 loss to Old Town.

Logan Thompson- Mattanawcook- basketball- scored 23 points, including six three pointers in 85-75 loss to Foxcroft.

Justin Thompson- Schenck- basketball- scored 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in 59-51 win over Penquis.
