Strong defensive effort leads Highview girls to a win

Bangor- The Highview Christian Academy Knights girls basketball team needed a strong start to the second half of their basketball season. Tuesday night they got just that. HCA held visiting Islesboro scoreless in the first half and walked their way to a convincing 40-16 Class D South basketball victory at the UMA-Bangor Campus Fitness Center.

Highview Christian Academy (5-3) out of Charleston were led by Kelsea McDonald and Cassidy Lessner. McDonald had 14 points and 5 steals and Lessner had a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Knights buried the Eagles in the first half by outscoring them 15-0 in the opening period and 8-0 in the second to lead 23-0 at halftime.

Islesboro (0-6) got 4 points each from Jasmine Schoppe, Rylee Sienkiewicz and Sanni Kohn.

Highview returns to action on Tuesday at home when they host Class C Hyde at 5 p.m. while Islesboro also plays Tuesday at 5 p.m. when they host Searsport.
