Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 175 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had three Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Bryce Shorey from Searsport high school earned athlete of the week honors this week in a very close vote. Shorey joins Briana Grant (2-9-14), Jake Powell (5-10-14), Karigen Coffin (9-28-14), Melinda Ogden (12-21-14), Troy Reynolds (2-8-15)! and Brittany Ward (5-16-15) as student/athletes from Searsport that have been named athlete of the week.

Other nominations this week are Brayden Miller from Dexter high school and Grant Doane from Penobscot Valley High School.

Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Bryce Shorey– Searsport-basketball- scored 27 points in 60-45 win over Deer Isle-Stonington. Scored 15 points in 75-36 win over Stearns. Shorey is the seventh student/athlete from Searsport to earn athlete of the week honors.

Brayden Miller- Dexter – basketball- recorded 20 points, nine rebounds, and four assists in 58-48 win over Schenck,

Grant Doane- PVHS- basketball- recorded 17 points and 12 rebounds in 48-33 win over Stearns.
