Presque Isle and John Bapst will get the tournament started in Bangor

The John Bapst Crusaders will open the Maine Principals’ Association class B tournament on the same court where they play their home games during the regular season, when they take on Presque Isle at 5 p.m, on Friday evening.

John Bapst (12-7) rolled to a 55-40 win over Orono in a preliminary round game on Wednesday night. Presque Isle (15-3) won the regular season matchup against the Crusaders by a score of 56-47 on December 19th.

The second game of the night will feature the second seeded MDI (17-1) girls basketball team and seventh seeded Hermon (11-8). The Trojans have played very well despite losing Sierra Tapley to a season ending injury midway through the season. Kelsey Shaw went over 1000 career points late in the regular season. The Trojans have won five games by four points or less.

Hermon comes in playing well. They defeated Washington Academy 54-33 in a prelim game.  The Hawks have gone 9-2, after starting the season 2-6. MDI won both regular season matchups, 41-38 at MDI, and 50-33 at Hermon.

The final game of the night will be a class B boys quarterfinal game between Washington Academy (16-2) and Caribou (11-8). The Raiders won the regular season matchup by a score of 74-64.
