Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 178 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 13 Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. All of the nominations came from games played in the Maine Princapals’Association class B, C,and D north basketball tournament at the Cross Insurance Center.

Holly Preston from Shead, Kolleen Bouchard from Houlton, and Kelli Kennedy/Kayla Toppin both from Narraguagus all helped their team win a regional championship game and will be playing in a state title game next week.

Preston had a big second half in all three of Shead’s tournament wins. Tate Dolley from Machais earned runner up. Dolley recorded 33 points, 17 rebounds,four blocks, and set a class D quarterfinal game record by making 17 free throws. Preston is the first student/athlete from Shead high school to be named athlete of the week.

Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

Holly Preston- Shead – basketball-the junior is a guard who has led her team in both of their tourney victories. Preston led the Tigerettes with 17 pts and 10 rebounds (including going 8-10 from the foul line) in the 34-22 quarterfinal win against Deer Isle Stonington. Preston also led the Tigerettes with 11 pts, four rebounds, and two steals, (including the game winning shot with less than 10 seconds to go) in 38-35 semi-final win over Washburn, eliminating the five time defending state champions. Scored eight second half points and wished out seven assists in 44-37 class D regional final victory over Central Aroostook.

Runner up

Tate Dolley- Machias- basketball -recorded 33 points (including going 17-17 from the free throw line), 17 rebounds, and four blocks in 45-44 quarterfinal loss to Central Aroostook.

Other nominations

Karli  Levesque- Central Aroostook- scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in 45-44 win over Machias.

Ashlee Harris- Central Aroostook-  recorded 16 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists in 45-44 quarterfinal win over Machias.

Sydney Brewer- Southern Aroostook- basketball- recorded 15 points (nine in overtime) and nine rebounds in 38-32 quarterfinal  win over Wisdom.

Rhylee Wright- Wisdom- basketball- recorded 17 points, 24 rebounds, four steals, and three blocks in 38-32 overtime quarterfinal loss to Southern Aroostook.

Kayla Toppin- Narraguagus- basketball- scored 18 points (4 three pointers) and pulled down eight rebounds in 61-50 class C quarterfinal win over PCHS.

Jordynne Littlefield- PCHS – basketball- scored 17 points and dished out three assists in 61-50 quarterfinal loss to Narraguagus.

Megan Peach- Dexter- basketball- scored 17 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in 39-32 class C quarterfinal win over Stearns.

Emi Higgins- Hermon- basketball- recorded 20 points and six rebounds in 59-45 class B quarterfinal win over Presque Isle.

Lauren Plissey– Hermon- basketball- scored 12 points and 13 rebounds in 59-45 quarterfinal win over Presque Isle.

Kolleen Bouchard- Houlton- basketball- recorded 23 points, eight rebounds,four blocks, and two steals in 49-38 class B quarterfinal win over Winslow. Recorded 19 points, seven rebounds, five blocks, and three steals in 51-35 regional final win over Hermon.

Kelli Kennedy- Narraguagus- basketball-recorded 16 points, 10 steals, and nine rebounds in 39-24 class C semifinal win over Dexter. Recorded 14 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in 45-18 regional final win over PVHS.
