Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 180 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 14 Rowell Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Jessicca Girsa has led the defending regional champions from Stearns to a quick start to the season. Girsa is the sixth student/athlete from Stearns high school to be named athlete of the week. She joins Sigi Koizar, Taylor Pelkey, Jordan Morrow, Raychel Alley, and Zack Bouchard. Koizar is a three time winner.

Jessicca Girsa – Stearns- softball- pitched a one hitter and struck out three In the circle, also had two hits in 12-0 Season Opening Win Over Katahdin. Had three hits, including two doubles and five RBI , plus pitched a complete game five hitter in 18-0 win over Bangor Christian.

Runner up

Kate Whitney- Ellsworth- softball- pitched a two hitter with 13 strikeouts,while reaching base twice on offense in 11-0 win over George Stevens.

Other nominations

Mackenzie Beaudry- Foxcroft- softball- pitched a four hitter and struck out nine in the circle, also had two hits and two runs batted in with the bat in 15-0 win over Dexter. Earned the victory in the circle in 20-8 win over PCHS.

Libby Dunivan- Nokomis- softball- pitched a three hitter with 10 strikeouts, also had four hits, four runs scored, and six RBI in 25-0 win over MCI.

Audrey Davis- NNokomis- softball- recorded four hits, four runs scored, two stolen bases, and one RBI in 25-0 win over MCI.

Aren Herrick-Nokomis- softball- had three hits, three runs scored, three RBI, and two stolen bases in 25-0 win over MCI.

Austin Leighton- Nokomis- softball- recorded four hits, three runs scored, and three RBI in 25-0 win over MCI.

Brittany Bubar- Nokomis- softball- had two hits, including a three run homer and four RBI in 25-0 win over MCI.

Chelsie Crockett- Nokomis- softball- hit a three run home run in 25-0 win over MCI.

Maci Leali- Nokomis- softball- recorded three hits, three runs scored, and two RBI in 25-0 win over MCI.

Lauren Jamo – Stearns- softball- had two hits in 12-0 Season Opening Win Over Katahdin.

Audrey Dunstan – Stearns- softball- had two hits in 12-0 Season Opening Win Over Katahdin.

Cassidy McLeod -Stearns- softball- had two hits & Drove in three runs in 12-0 Season Opening Win Over Katahdin.

Jordynne Littlefield- PCHS – softball- recorded four hits in 20-8 loss against Foxcroft.
