Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 181 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage athlete of the week nominations. Karli Theberge has helped the Hermon Hawks softball team start the season 6-0. Theberge dominating in the circle and with the bat this week to become only the fifth student/athlete to be named athlete of the week six times. She joins Kolleen Bouchard (Houlton),Justin Thompson (Schenck),Parise Rossignol (Van Buren), and Gage Feeney (Washington Academy). Feeney is the only student/athlete that was named athlete of the week seven times.

Karli Theberge– Hermon- softball- fired a one hitter , striking out seven, while recording three hits and three RBI with the bat in 13-1 win over Ellsworth. Pitched a two hitter and struck out nine, while also recording two hits and two RBI with her bat in 15-0 win over MDI. Pitched a one hitter with 10 strikeouts, plus went 4-5 with a triple and five RBI in 23-0 win over Caribou in game 1 of doubleheader. In game two 18-0 win over Caribou, Theberge went 2-3 with three RBI.Her pitching totals for the week were- 16 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 26 K. Batting totals for the week- 11-14 (.786),three doubles, triple, 13 RBI.

Runner up

Kate Saunders- Bucksport- softball- had three hits, including a triple and homer, plus drove in five runs, while also pitching a four hitter and striking out 15 in the circle in 12-1 win over Central.

Other nominations

Cassidy McLeod – Stearns- softball- doubled twice, singled and homered and drove in five runs in 21-1 win over Schenck. Had three RBI in 13-8 win over PCHS.

Peighton Ingersoll – Stearns-softball-tripled twice and homered, driving in six runs in 21-1 win over Schenck. Had two hits in 13-8 win over PCHS.

Jessicca Girsa – Stearns-softball-had three hits & Pitched a complete six hitter, striking out four in 21-1 win over Schenck. Had two hits and earned the pitching victory in 13-8 win over PCHS.

Lauren Jamo – Stearns – softball-had three hits in 21-1 win over Schenck.

Audrey Dunstan – Stearns – softball- had three hits in 21-1 win over Schenck.

Kolby Kain- Dexter- softball- pitched a one hitter and struck out 10 in the circle, while also getting three hits with her bat in 14-1 win over Lee.
