Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 183 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 15 Rowell’s Garage athlete of the week nominations. Jake Koffman broke a state record by six feet to earn Down East Limousine male athlete of the week. Koffman is the 12th student/athlete from Orono high school to earn athlete of the week honors. He joins Christian Mowrer, Dominic Mowrer, Tyler Eddy, Andi Foster, Jillian Woodward, Diana Tyutyunnyk, Keenan Collett, Brinsley Chasse,Jackson Coutts, Tia Tardy,and Aashild Fridtun.

Jake Koffman- Orono- Track and Field- threw 186.3 in discus, beating the old state record by six feet.

Runner up

Ryan Jurgiewich-Schenck- baseball- struck out 17 in a complete game 15-4 win over Deer Isle. Also went 3 for 4 at the plate with a walk, 2 singles a double, 4 RBI’s and 4 runs scored. Earlier in the week went 2 for 3 in Schenck’s loss to Penobscot Valley.

Thomas Spencer- PVHS- baseball- pitched a four hitter with eight strikeouts in 10-0 win over Schenck.

Cameron Varney- Washington Academy-baseball- had two doubles and three RBI in 7-6 win over Orono.

Jackson Coutts- Orono- baseball – recorded five hits in 7-6 loss to Washington Academy.

Seth Garvin – Stearns – baseball- had three hits in 12-11 win over PCHS.

Evan Deschene – Stearns- baseball- had three hits in 12-11 win over PCHS.

Jeremy Williams – Stearns- baseball- had the Game Winning hit in 12-11 win over PCHS.

Caleb Shaw- Central – baseball- went 4-4 with a walk, three runs scored, and three stolen bases in 18-3 win over Dexter.

Zach Randall- Central- baseball- had three hits, two runs scored, two RBI,and pitched six innings, allowing only one earned run on four hits and four walks, while striking out 12 in 18-3 win over Dexter.

Andrew Speed- Central- baseball- recorded three hits, three runs scored, and four RBI in 18-3 win over Dexter.

Grant Poulin- Central- baseball- had three hits, two runs scored, and one RBI in 18-3 win over Dexter.

Micah Ward- Central- baseball- had two hits and three RBI in 18-3 win over Dexter.

Kaleb Gifford- Old Town – baseball- pitched a four hitter, striking out seven in 2-0 win over Ellsworth.

Justin Valvo – Penquis- – baseball- pitched a complete game shutout allowing 3 hits and striking out 7, he also contributed two singles and a RBI.
