Karli Theberge joins Gage Feeney as seven time athlete of the week winner

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 186 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 14 Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Karli Theberge had another spectacular week to become the first female to be named athlete of the week seven times. Theberge dominated in th circle and with the bat to lead the Hermon Hawks to wins over Central, Foxcroft, and Ellsworth. Theberge joins Gage Feeney (Washington Academy) as the only student/athletes to be named athlete of the week seven times.

Sydney Allen (Central),Lanie Perry (Narraguagus), and Cassidy McLeod (Stearns) finished close behind Theberge in the voting this week.

Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

Karli Theberge- Hermon – softball- went 3-4 with home run, double, single, and five RBI, plus pitched one inning relief with two strikeouts in 17-5 win over Central. Went 2-3 with double, also pitched a complete game allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out 12 in 6-2 win over Foxcroft. Went 3-5 with home run, double, one RBI, and pitched a complete game four hitter, striking out seven, allowing one earned run in 6-1 victory over Ellsworth. For the week:Theberge went 8-12 with two home runs, two doubles, and six RBI. Pitching: 15 innings with 21 strikeouts, three earned runs and two wins. She is now 11-0 with a 0.60 era. And her league leading batting average is over. 600.

Runner up

Sydney Allen- Central- track – Allen won first place in the 400m dash at the PVC small-school championship, breaking the Central High School track and field record in that event. Sydney also medaled in three other events; the 100m, the 200m, and 4x400m team relay.

Other nominations

Lanie Perry- Narraguagus- softball- pitched a no hitter with 13 strikeouts in 20-2 five inning win over Sumner.

Jenna Petrovic: – Winslow- softball- had two hits, and two runs scored in 10-1 win over Spruce Mountain.

Paige Veilleux- Winslow- softball- had a double, HR, and two RBI in 10-1 win over Spruce Mountain.

Mackenzie Beaudry- Foxcroft- softball- pitched a no hitter with 10 strikeouts in 14-2 win over Dexter. Had two hits in 6-2 loss to Hermon.

Cassidy McLeod- Stearns -softball- had two home runs and five RBI in 12-0 win over PVHS. Had a single, double, Home Run and drove in five runs in 19-7 win over Penquis.

Madeline Morrison – Stearns- softball- had three singles in 12-0 win over PVHS.

Kate Saunders- Bucksport- softball- pitched a four hitter with eight strikeouts in 11-1 win over George Stevens. Pitched a three hitter and struck out 10, plus had three hits in 13-0 win over Dexter.

Lauren Jamo – Stearns- softball- had three hits in 19-7 win over Penquis

Jessicca Girsa – Stearns- softball- had three hits in 19-7 win over Penquis.

Abby Russell – Stearns- softball- had two hits and drove in four runs in 19-7 win over Penquis.

Grace Farrington – Stearns- softball had four hits and drove in two runs in 19-7 win over Penquis.

Hannah Moholland- Oceanside- softball- hit three doubles in 6-0 win over Belfast.
