Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 187 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 10 Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Cassidy McLeod Became the seventh student/athlete from Stearns high school to be named athlete of the week. McLeod is one of the key players on a Stearns team that finished the regular season with a 14-2 record and number one in the Maine Principals’Association class D standings. McLeod joins Sigrid Koizar  (3) (1-22-12),
Taylor Pelkey (1-20-13), Jordan Morrow (5-5-13), Raychel Alley (1-4-14), Zack Bouchard (5-2-15), and Jessicca Girsa (4-24-16) as student/athletes from Stearns that have earned athlete of the week honors.

Cassidy McLeod – Stearns- softball – had two singles and two homers with four RBI in 12-1 win over Greenville.

Runner up

Caitlyn King- Old Town- softball- had three hits and three RBI and pitched a complete game allowing four hits and striking out six in 14-2 win over John Bapst.

Other nominations

Kristen Graham- Houlton – softball- pitched a complete game shutout and hit a home run in 6-0 win over Limestone.

Jessicca Girsa- Stearns- softball- pitched a 4-hitter, striking out nine in 12-1 win over Greenville.

Audrey Dunstan – Stearns- softball- had two hits and two RBI in 12-1 win over Greenville.

Emma Alley – Had four Singles in 12-1 win over Greenville.

Jewel Lamb- PCHS- softball- recorded two hits and two runs scored, while earning the pitching victory in 10-4 win over Dexter.

Delani Bennett- PCHS- softball- had two hits, including a double, one walk, and two RBI in 10-4 win over Dexter.

Jordynne Littlefield-PCHS- softball- had two hits, one run scored, and one RBI in 10-4 win over Dexter.

Courtney Deane- PCHS- softball- recorded two hits, one run scored, and one RBI in 10-4 win over Dexter.
