Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 187 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage athlete of the week nominations. Kaleb Gifford became the eighth student/athlete from Old Town high school to earn athlete of the week honors. He joins Garrett Libby (1-22-12), Ethan Swedberg (10-7-12), Kendra Hayward (6-9-13), Rachel Martin- -(4-26-14),Eric Hoogterp- (4-25-15), TJ Crawford (10-18-15), and Jake Jarvis (11-8-15)
Down East Limousine male athlete of the week
Kaleb Gifford-Old Town- baseball- pitched a complete game shutout, allowing five hits and striking out seven on the mound, plus he went 3-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in 14-0 win over John Bapst.
Runner up
Cam Graham- Houlton- baseball- pitched a no hitter in 13-0 victory over Limestone. Graham also had a no hitter against Limestone last week.
Other nominations
Seth Garvin: Stearns- baseball- pitched a 5-hitter, striking out 12 in 7-3 win over Schenck.
Dakota Miller- Central- baseball- had four hits and scored three runs in 11-4 win over Orono.
