Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 189 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 14 Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Jordynne Littlefield became the seventh student/athlete from Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) to be named athlete of the week. She joins Alex Speed (4) (10-25-14),
Lindsey Morrill (10-20-11),Abby Burdin (4-29-12),
Delani Bennett (2) (1-5-15),Erin Speed (9-5-15), and Bryce Gilbert (1-30-16). Littlefield edged out Sydney Allen (Central) and Kelsea McDonald (Highview Christian) in the voting this week.

Roadrunner Taxi female athlete of the week

Jordynne Littlefield– PCHS- softball- had three hits, including a three run double to give the Pirates the lead in 11-8 class C north quarterfinal win over #1 seed and previously undefeated Narraguagus. Recorded two hits, including a double and two RBI in 8-0 prelim win over Washington Academy.

Runner up

Kelsea McDonald – Highview Christian- softball- fired a no-hitter striking out nine and walking four in a mud bath rain shortened prelim beating Woodland 6-3. She only allowed one earned run. McDonald struck out five more in 16-11 upset over #2 Southern Aroostook. She also had three hits, including a double and three RBI.

Other nominations

Sydney Allen- Central Track – At the Class C State Meet, Sydney earned earned runner-up in the state of Maine in the 400m dash, and also medaled in the 100m and 200m dashes. Her performance over the season earned her PVC All-Conference First Team honors in the 400m dash, and Second Team All-Conference honors in the 100m dash, 200m dash, and 4x400m relay.

Jewel Lamb- PCHS- softball- pitched a five hit shutout with seven strikeouts in 8-0 class C prelim win over Washington Academy.

Kate Whitney- Ellsworth- softball- pitched a three hitter, striking out 13 in 5-3 class B prelim win over Gardiner.

Jessicca Girsa – Stearns- softball- threw a four-hitter and had three hits in 21-3 Quarterfinal win over Hodgdon. Hit a solo home run to lead off the game & Struck out 6 in 14-6 Semi-Final Win over Katahdin

Lauren Jamo – Stearns- softball – had three hits and three RBI in 21-3 Quarterfinal win over Hodgdon

Abby Russell – Stearns- softball- had three hits and three RBI in 21-3 Quarterfinal win over Hodgdon. Had 2 doubles, a single and three RBI in 14-6 Semi-Final Win over Katahdin.

Emma Alley – Stearns- softball- had two hits in 21-3 quarterfinal win over Hodgdon.

Peighton Ingersoll – Stearns- softball- had two hits in 21-3 quarterfinal win over Hodgdon. Had a home run, a single and three RBI in 14-6 Semi-Final Win over Katahdin.

Grace Farrington – StearnsA softball- had two hits in 21-3 quarterfinal win over Hodgdon.

Audrey Dunstan – Stearns- softball -had two hits in 21-3 quarterfinal win over Hodgdon.

Cassidy McLeod – Stearns- softball- had two hits in 21-3 Quarterfinal win over Hodgdon. Hit a 2-run home run, single and double in 14-6 Semi-Final Win over Katahdin.

Madeline Morrison – Stearns- softball- had two doubles and a single in 14-6 Semi-Final Win over Katahdin.
