Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 195 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Trey Wood rushed for over 300 yards and five touchdowns to lift Brewer to a win over Skowhegan. Wood and the Witches are 4-0 so far this season. Wood joins Kyle Alexander (12-18-11),Matt Pushard (6-15-15), and Logan Rogerson (10-11-15) as student/athletes from Brewer high school to be named athlete of the week.

Trey Wood-Brewer- football- rushed for 313 yards and five touchdowns in 54-41 win over Skowhegan.

Runner up

Tyler Macleod- Belfast- football- rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns in 34-8 win over John Bapst.

Other nominations

Eli Bussell- MCI- football- totaled 108 yards and three touchdowns in 42-6 win over Mattanawcook.

Barrett Grant- Searsport- soccer- recorded a hat trick in 6-3 win over Dexter.

TJ Sheldon- Highview Christian- soccer- made 25 saves, including some very difficult saves in 0-0 tie against East Grand.

Jacob Worthley- Houlton- soccer. Recorded a hat trick and four assists in win over Calais.
