PVHS girls soccer comeback to earn quarterfinal win over Easton

At Howland, the Howlers erased a two goal deficit scoring three goals in a span of five minutes to earn the comeback 3-2 class D girls soccer quarterfinal win over Easton.

Senior winger Tori Watts led the Howler attack with her left footed finish from 12 yards out to start the flurry of goals. PVHS outshot Easton 9-5 in the first half, with Lauren Reed nearly giving them the early lead as her shot rattled the cross bar. Reed found the back of the net in the second half, to tie the game. Watts followed 90 seconds later, finding the top corner with her blast from 22 yards out. Penobscot Valley keeper Paige Thibodeau recorded six saves on nine shots, highlighted by two diving saves.

Bears forward Kassidi Hanson took advantage of a turnover, scoring midway through the first half for the 1-0 lead. Easton’s Lydia Ferris scored early in the 2nd half to double the lead. Easton finishes the season 8-7-1, as Keeper Delaney Leach stopped 9 of 19 shots.

The second seeded Howlers will host third seeded Madawaska in a Maine Principals’ Assocation class D semifinal game this weekend. For the full girls soccer tourney scoreboard and schedule click here.
