Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 200 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Katie Levesque scored five goals and had two assists in leading Central Aroostook to a 9-3 class D quarterfinal win over Katahdin. Levesque is the first student/athlete from Central Aroostook to be named athlete of the week. Central Aroostook is the 59th school with at least one athlete of the week winner.

Katie Levesque- Central Aroostook- soccer- recorded five goals and two assists in 9-3 class D quarterfinal win over Katahdin.

Runner up

Becky Lopez-Anido- Orono- soccer- recorded a hat trick in 5-1 class C quarterfinal win over George Stevens. Scored one goal in 4-0 class C semifinal win over Bucksport.

Other nominations

Mariah Zawistowski- Lawrence-field hockey- had 20 saves in 1-0 class B semifinal win over #1 seed Foxcroft.

Madison Michaud- Presque Isle- soccer- recorded a hat trick in 4-1 class B quarterfinal win over Caribou.
