Nokomis high school 2016/2017 boys basketball preview

November 29, 2016

Info from coach Ryan Martin

School, sport, record from last year.

Nokomis high school/6-12

Expectations

We have a lot of returning players from last years team. We finished 11th last year and were young (only 2 seniors on the roster) and with losses to Lawrence in overtime, and Belfast at the buzzer, were very close to getting into the playoffs.

Our expectations this year are to be a playoff team and to learn from those tough losses last year.

Strengths

We are guard heavy, and will be tough for teams to match up with. We have the ability to get to the rim, and to shoot the ball well from the outside.

Challenges

We lack size, our tallest player on the roster is about 6’1.” To make up for that, our ball pressure must be very good, our block outs have to be very good, and we have to be tenacious going after the rebound.

Key Players/Position

Josh Smestad – Guard

Zach Hartsgrove – Guard

Brad Allen – Forward
