Megan Peach leads Dexter to preseason win over Madison

DEXTER– Megan Peach recorded 23 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks to lead the Dexter Tigers girls basketball team to a 40-36 win over Madison at the Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union tip off classic Saturday night,

Peach scored nine points in the first quarter as the Tigers jumped out to an 11-9 lead. Madison outscored Dexter 15-2 in the second quarter as the Bulldogs held a 24-13 halftime lead.

Dexter turned the tables in the third quarter. Peach scored eight points in the quarter as the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 13-2.

Peach put in a short jumper with three minutes remaining to give the Tigers a lead (35-33) they wouldn’t give back. Peach secured the victory when she grabbed a rebound and put in a layup in the final seconds.

Kaylee Deering added seven points for the Tigers, including going 3-4 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Rebecca Barton came up big for Dexter despite not getting any points. Batron grabbed 11 rebounds. Peach and Batron combined for 21 rebounds as the Tigers out rebounded Madison 29-15. Dexter lost to Waterville earlier in the day.

Sydney LeBlanc led the Bulldogs with 10 points. Madeline Wood and Ashley Emery added seven points each. Madison defeated John Bapst earlier in the day.
