Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 204 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 11 Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Katherine Alley had a big game in her first high school game. The freshman is the eighth student/athlete from Stearns high school to be named athlete of the week. She joins Sigrid Koizar  (3) (1-22-12), Taylor Pelkey (1-20-13), Jordan Morrow (5-5-13), Raychel Alley (1-4-14), Zack Bouchard (5-2-15),Jessicca Girsa (4-24-16), and
Cassidy McLeod (6-4-16)

Katherine Alley- Stearns- basketball- the freshman put in 27 points in her first career high school game in 93-16 win over Lee Academy.

Runner up

Kolleen Bouchard- Houlton- scored 36 points, including going 10-10 from the free throw line in 72-50 win over Orono.

Sara Almirante- PCHS- basketball- recorded 18 points, seven steals, and five assists in 51-25 win over Schenck.

Erin Speed- PCHS- basketball- scored 14 points and had five steals in 51-25 win over Schenck.

Lexi Harris- PCHS- basketball- recorded 13 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists in 51-25 win over Schenck.

Alivia Hunt- PCHS- basketball- recorded 11 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks in 51-25 win over Schenck.

Cassidy Lessner- Highview Christian- basketball – scored a career high 26 points and also had seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 48-28 win over Greater Portland Christian.

Jaiden Veal- Washington Academy- basketball- scored 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in 64-37 win over Sumner.

Sydney Allen- Central- basketball- recorded 24 points, four steals, and two assists in 69-36 win over Mattanawcook. Allen had 13 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists in preseason win over George Stevens.

Emma Alley – Stearns- basketball- Scored 16 points in 93-16 win over Lee.

Peighton Ingersoll – Stearns- basketball- Scored 16 points in 93-16 season opening win over Lee.
