Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 209 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 17 Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Kassidy Harriman (Old Town) and Morgan Fernald (Belfast) had great weeks. They earned co female athlete of the week honors and are the first swimmers to earn athlete of the week aince Fernald earned the honor January 23rd, 2016. Harriman is the 10th student/athlete from Old Town high school to earn athlete of the week honors.

Kassidy Harriman – Old Town- swimming & Diving- At a dual meet against Orono, Harriman set the diving record for a six dive meet for Old Town high school with a score of 224.85. Last year she had broke the previous record of 200.25 set by Missy Ouellette in 1998. At the Irene Palmer diving invitational Harriman set the record for Old Town high school for 11 dive meet with a score of 369 points. The previous record of 357.95 was set by Courtney Madden in 1997.

Morgan Fernald- Belfast- swimming- at the KVAC meet Fernald set five school swim records. Three individual in the 50 free, 100 back and 200 Im. She is a member of the two relay records set in the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay. She is the KVAC champion in the 200 IM.

Runner up

Megan Peach -Dexter- basketball- recorded 20 points, eight rebounds, and four steals  in 43-26 win over Penquis. Scored 26 points  and pulled down 29 rebounds in 48-40 win over Central.  Scored 15 points in 60-29 win over Bangor Christian. Recorded nine points, 12 rebounds, and two steals in 36-21 loss to Foxcroft.

Abigail Allen- Central- basketball- scored 17 points and had three steals in 68-21 win over Old Town,

Sydney Allen- Central- basketball- recorded 15 points, six assists, and four steals in 68-21 win over Old Town. Scored 15 points in 48-40 loss to Dexter. Scored 14 points in 44-34 win over Caribou.

Emma Campbell- Central- basketball- recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and five steals in 68-21 win over Old Town. Scored 14 points in 48-40 loss to Dexter.

Libby Cook – Central- basketball- scored 10 points and had five rebounds in 68-21 win over Old Town. Scored 16 points in 44-34 win over Caribou,

Mikayla Tripp- Bucksport- Cheering-  The Bucks placed third at regionals. Mikayla is a hard worker. Not only a cheerleader, but a 3 sport athlete. On top of school sports, she plays travel softball for Maine Thunder out of Portland. She also works on her softball skills ( pitching/catching) in the off season with weekly lessons, all while maintaining straight A’s in the classroom.

Katherine Alley- Stearns- basketball- scored 19 points in 54-48 win over PCHS.

Emma Alley- Stearns – basketball- scored 18 points, including 1000 career point in 54-48 win over PCHS. Scored 13 points in 50-37 win over Bucksport.

Lauren Plissey- Hermon- basketball- recorded 10 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 blocks in 42-34 win over John Bapst. Scored 18 points in 54-43 win over Mattanawcook.

Kassie Krio- Camden Hills- basketball- scored 24 points in 76-53 win over Nokomis.

Charlotte Messer- Camden Hills- basketball- scored 20 points in 76-53 win over Nokomis.

Abby Russell- Stearns- basketball- scored 11 points on 50-37 win over Bucksport.

Peighton Ingersoll- Stearns – basketball- scored 11 points in 50-37 win over Bucksport. Scored 23 points in 63-39 win over Schenck.

Grace Bickford- Foxcroft- basketball- recorded 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals in 36-21 win over Dexter.

Sidney Farguher- Stearns – basketball- scored 18 points in 63-39 win over Schenck.
