Dexter’s big three come up huge in prelim win over Schenck/Audio Replay included

DEXTER- The Dexter Tigers girls basketball team scored the first 10 points and never looked back in a 45-28 win over Schenck in a class C preliminary round game Tuesday afternoon at Ed Guiski gymnasium.

The Tigers scored 12 points in each of the first two quarters and built the halftime lead to 24-7. Megan Peach, Kayli Cunningham, and Abby Webber scored eight points each in the half for Dexter.

The Wolverines got as the deficit to 29-18 midway through the third quarter. Dexter ended the quarter on a 10-2 run to get the lead to 39-20 heading into the final quarter.

Cunningham (14) , Peach (12) , and Webber (11) combined for 37 points for the Tigers. The big three combined for 11 points in the third quarter. Peach also pulled down 11 rebounds and had two blocks. Cunningham recorded five rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Webber made 3 three pointers, including two in the first half.

Dexter (13-6) will take on Madawaska in a Maine Principals’ Association class C quarterfinal game on Tuesday, February 21st at 2:05 PM at the Cross Insurance Center.

Kaylee Deering put in four points for the Tigers. Kaitlyn Webber recorded two points, five assists, and three rebounds, while Becca Batron chipped in with two points.

Anna Sewell led the Wolverines with nine points, Allison Noddin chipped in with seven points and six rebounds. Baileigh Osborne put in five points, while Olivia Gallant and Samantha Falone added four and three points respectively. Schenck finishes their season with a 10-9 record.

Dexter out rebounded the Wolverines 28-20. Schenck committed 16 turnovers, while Dexter turned it over 10 times. Schenck shot 3-12 from the free throw line, while the Tigers shot 2-15.
