February 19, 2017

BANGOR: After a fierce attempt at a comeback the #2 Machias Bulldogs were able to push past the #7 seeded Bangor Christian Patriots late Saturday night 49-44 to advance to the Class D Boys Semi Finals next Thursday.

After trailing for most of the first half the Bulldogs were able to take back the lead going into the half 26-20. They would pull ahead a little further until Bangor Christian started clawing back into it making it a 35-31 game going to the fourth quarter. It was two big three pointers and a foul shot from Camon Johnson in the final three minutes of the game that really paved the way to a Bulldogs victory.

Jacob Godfrey led all scorers with 20 points on the night for the Bulldogs followed by James Mesrereau who tallied 12.

For the Bangor Christian Patriots they were lead by Austin Keib who led the team with 11 points followed by Dean Grass who tallied nine and Jonathan Cormier had eight.

#2 Machias will square off against the #3 Easton Bears in the Class D Semi-Finals next Thursday afternoon at 2:05pm.
