Fort Fairfield rolls to quarterfinal win over PCHS: Sets up matchup with Schenck in semis

BANGOR–The Fort Fairfield Tigers jumped out to an 11-0 lead and cruised to a 66-43 victory over Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) in a Maine Principals’ Assocation class C boys north quarterfinal game played Tuesday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.

The Pirates cut the deficit to two early in the second quarter and again midway through the quarter. Fort Fairfield went on a 7-0 run to expand the lead to 27-18. They held a 29-22 advantage at halftime.

The Tigers outscored the Pirates 18-9 in the third quarter. Isaac Cyr put in 11 points during the quarter.

Cyr led the Tigers with 19 points and nine rebounds. Christopher Giberson recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Ryan Player chipped in with 11 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Fort Fairfield (18-1) out rebounded PCHS 40-21. The Tigers will play a semifinal game on Friday, February 24th at 2:05 PM against Schenck.

Bryce Gilbert led the Pirates with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Dillion Drew put in nine (all in second quarter) points, while Cameron Kane and Damyan True had six points each. PCHS finishes the season with a 10-10 record.
