Jarrod Chase earns McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 213 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Jarrod Chase made the shot heard around Maine when he nailed a three pointer with 1.4 seconds remaining to give George Stevens a 47-44 class C state championship win over Winthrop. Chase joins Taylor Schildroth (6) (2-27-17), and Morgan Dauk (2) (1-1-17) as student/athletes from George Stevens Academy that have earned athlete of the week honors.

Jarrod Chase- George Stevens – basketball- scored 16 points (5 three pointers), including the game winning three pointer with 1.4 seconds remaining in 47-44 class C state title win over Winthrop.

Runner up

Graham Good- MDI- basketball- recorded 15 points, 13 rebounds, and five steals in 59-39 class B state championship win over Wells.

Other nominations

Andrew Phelps- MDI- basketball- scored 16 points in 59-39 class B state championship win over Wells.

James Mersereau- Machias- basketball- scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 51-39 class D state title win over Greenville.

Nick Foley- Greenville- basketball- recorded 18 points, five rebounds, and two steals in 55-44 class D state title loss to Machias.

Taylor Schildroth- George Stevens – basketball- recorded 21 points, eight rebounds, and three assists in 47-44 class C state title win over Winthrop.
