Castleton finishes off four game baseball sweep, Husson softball sweeps Sunday

Devin Hayes and David Mikell both pitched three hits shutouts Sunday to help the Castleton Spartans baseball team to a pair of 1-0 wins, and a four game sweep of Husson at the Winkin Complex.

Josh Rylant had the game winning RBI double in game one, while Dylan Bailey had the winning RBI single in the second game.

Ben Holmes and Ryan Allender both pitched well for the Eagles, taking losses on the hill. Conor McGuire had a pair of hits, and David Hutchins, Logan Rogerson, Sam Huston, and Christian Corneil all had a hit each for Husson.

Husson drops to 21-18, 13-11 in the North Atlantic Conference. Castleton goes to 30-7, 21-3. Castleton hosts the NAC tourney next weekend. Husson will find out what seed they will be in the four team tourney once other conference games finish tomorrow.

 

At New England College, the Husson softball team clinched home field for the NAC softball tourney next weekend with a pair of wins over the Pilgrims.

Chloe Gorey and Brianna Bires both had three RBI on the day to lead the Eagles, while Arika Brochu and Olivia Maynard both homered.

Jen Jones and A Brochu earned the wins in the circle for the Eagles. Jones struck out 14 batters in five innings of work for the game one win.

Husson finishes the regular season 27-11 overall, 11-1 NAC. NEC falls to 17-19, 6-6.
