Nine Run inning Powers PCHS Softball to Preliminary Win Over Calais

GUILFORD– Coaches love to see big innings from their offense, and that is exactly what Coach Riitano of PCHS got from the Pirates as they racked up nine runs all with two outs to power past the #10 Calais Blue Devils 9-3 Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Devils would strike first as Kylie Donovan would hit a run single that would score Faith Tirrell in the first. They would then tack on two more runs in the third with one of them being an RBI single Faith Tirrell to score Kendra Parks to make it 3-0 Blue Devils.

That would be the last of the scoring for Calais but only the beginning for PCHS. The bottom of the third brought power and determination to the plate for PCHS as they would put up nine runs all coming with two outs. The scoring barrage started when Sara Almirante would hit an RBI Single to score Alivia Hunt. Later on, Rachel Beckwith would score two runs on an error from Center Field followed by a big 2 RBI triple from Erin Speed to make it 6-3 and closing the inning out with an RBI from Jewel Lamb and Alivia Hunt.

Pitching wise Jewel Lamb of PCHS would rack up 12 strikeouts in the win, while Olivia Huckins of Calais had three  strikeouts in the loss

#7 PCHS will travel to face #2 Bucksport on Thursday in a Class C Quarter-Final Matchup
