Colford helps Comrades stay alive at Northeast Legion Regional

Coffee News Comrades pitcher Jesse Colford only allowed three earned runs in eight innings of work Friday moring to help his Bangor team to a 6-4 win over Rochester, New Hampshire at the American Legion Northeast Regional in Worcester, Massachusetts in an elimination game.

The Comrades trailed 3-1 in the sixth but was able to come up with five runs over the sixth, seventh, and eighth to pick up the win, pounding out 12 hits on the day.

Noah Missbrenner gave up a run in the ninth but picked up the save.

Coffee News was coming off a 4-1 loss to Braintree, Massachusetts on Thursday but got a big performance from Colford to stay alive in the losers bracket. Colford allowed six hits, no walks, and had six strikeouts.

Bangor will now face either Braintree or Shrewsbury, Mass in another elimination game at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Bangor will be just one of four teams left in the tournament when action picks back up Saturday.
