Comrades Legion season ended Saturday

The Coffee News Comrades saw their successful American Legion season come to an end Saturday at the Northeast Regional in Worcester, Massachusetts with a 3-2 loss to Shrewsbury, Mass.

After a rain delay the game was moved to another field in Worcester. The Bangor team jumped out to a 2-0 lead, including a solo homer by Ethan Stoddard.

Zach Cowperthwaite pitched four shutout innings, but Shrewsbury rallied on a two run double by Jack Gardner and an RBI single by Casey Boudreau in the fifth which turned out to be the difference. Bangor left the tying run at third in the seventh inning. The game was shortened to seven innings because of rain.

Coffee News ends their season at 20-9, and a 2-2 record in the regional tournament.

Shrewsbury is scheduled to play another Massachusetts team Braintree in a winner take all championship game today at 5 p.m.
