Mattanawcook Academy boys soccer 2017 preview

August 21, 2017

Mattanawcook Academy: -2016 record 4-9-2 (9th Seed in Northern Maine)

Info from coach Aaron Ward

Expectations: Still being a relatively new program, we have had great success making the playoffs 5 years in a row. It has become something we take great pride in. This senior group and supporting cast want to continue the streak.

Strengths: Our strength is our work ethic and experience. This is a gritty group that expects to be in every game. We have a great senior class and a nice blend of eager underclassmen. This team knows how tough Northern Maine Class C soccer is and that there is no such thing as a guaranteed win. We take great pride in our defense and are opportunistic on offense. We are also fortunate to have one of the best Keepers in Class C North in Corbett Arnold.

Challenges: This team has a great Soccer IQ–however our focus is execution and doing so with speed. As with every year, you lose valuable pieces. Our challenge is getting everyone in the right positions to make us successful. It’s a process. The sooner we make those adjustments and get used to our new roles/positions will go a long way in determining our success this season.

Key Players/Position: K–Corbett Arnold, F/M–John Farrington, F/M–Bailey Markie, M–Nate Ring, D–Koby Farrington, D–Hunter Blanchard
