Dexter boys soccer battle back to get tie against George Stevens

Matt Richards recorded a hat trick to help the Dexter Tigers boys soccer team battle back from a two goal halftime deficit and grab a 3-3 tie against George Stevens on Tuesday afternoon at Dexter. 

The Eagles finished as the regional runner up last season and enter this season as one of the favorites in class C North.

Owen Vinall recorded both first half goals as George Stevens jumped out to the lead. 

Richards nailed a penalty shot to the back of the bet with 37:18 remaining. He evened the score with 28:47 left when he took an assist from his brother Trever Richards. 

Matt Richards gave the Tigers a lead with 10:40 remaining.  Mike Moon scored the game’s final scored and ended the match in a 3-3 draw. 

“This was the most valiant effort I have ever seen from any team I have coached. I am proud of each and every one of them,”Dexter coach Andrew Bermudez said. “I am hoping this level of commitment and effort with continue for the remainder of the season.”

Brett Kusneirz recorded eight saves on 13 shots for the Tigers. Alec Witham had 6 saves on 18 shots for the Eagles.
