BUCKSPORT- MDI senior running back Colby Lee ran for over 300 yards and four touchdowns Friday night, as the Class C Trojans knocked off the Class D Bucksport Golden Bucks 43-22 at Bob Carmichael Field in Bucksport.

Lee carried 21 times for 313 yards, including TD runs of 51, 38, 57, and 31 yards. The 51 yard score was on his first carry of the night, and put MDI up 7-0 just 46 seconds into the game. Lee would also add an interception on defense in the fourth quarter that he would return 47 yards into Bucks territory. Junior running back Elijah Joyce also chipped in nine carries for 21 yards and a touchdown, as MDI improved their record to 2-1. Quarterback Andrew Phelps went 3-6 passing for 43 yards and a score, as Abrahm Malloy caught two passes for 38 yards including the TD from Phelps.

Bucksport (1-2), trailed 21-14 at the half, but quickly marched 62 yards in three plays after the intermission, which was highlighed by a 57 yard run by Lucas Wardwell. Quarterback Chase Carmichael plunged in from one yard out, and when Carmichael found receiver Keigan Riccard for the two point conversation, the Bucks had their first and only lead of the night at 22-21.

MDI took control from that point outscoring the Bucks 22-0 in the rest of the third quarter, on a touchdown run by Lee, a Phelps to Malloy 18 yard TD, and then Lee finished his four TD night with a 31 yard scamper that finished off the scoring on the night. The last of his touchdown runs was set up by a blocked punt by the Trojans.

Wardwell finished the night with 16 rushes for 142 yards for Bucksport. He also caught a TD pass from Carmichael. Carmichael was 10-16 passing, 84 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also added six carries for 20 yards and a score. Riccard led the receiving core with five catches for 59 yards and a TD.

Both teams are back in action next Friday night as Bucksport travels to battle Foxcroft Academy, while MDI will host Hermon. Both are scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
