Big second half propels GPCA boys soccer to win at Highview

CHARLESTON– Greater Portland Christian (GPCA) scored three unanswered goals to earn a 3-1 boys soccer win over Highview Christian on Wednesday afternoon. 

Highview Christian held a 1-0 halftime lead. Caulin Patterson evened the score just 1:01 into the second half. 

With 26:02 remaining, GPCA goalie Mason Jones had to leave the game because of a red card he received for sitting on a Highview player during a loose ball in front of a goal. The penalty kick was missed. 

Christian Patterson came in and did an outstanding job in goal for GPCA. Patterson recorded six saves on eight shots in the final 26 minutes. 

Micah LaSalle gave GPCA a lead they wouldn’t give back with 22:19 remaining. Kaleb Reagan added an insurance goal just 3:18 later. Jones recorded six saves on 10 shots for GPCA (2-2). 

Caleb Hall scored for the Knights. TJ Sheldon recorded 12 saves on 18 shots. Highview Christian (0-4) will take on Temple Academy at Thomas College tomorrow.
