Career best day for Smith helps Husson football roll

John Smith rushed 39 times for a career high 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns Saturday, to lead the Husson Eagles football team to an easy 28-7 non-conference win over Endicott College at Hempstead Stadium in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Cory Brandon went 11-21 passing for 93 yards, and a pair of touchdown passes to DJ Allen.

Husson (3-1) broke out to a 28-0 halftime lead, before Endicott (1-4) scored on a one yard touchdown run by Hakim Fleming early in the third quarter. Elvin Suazo Jr. and Tarik Smith both had three solo tackles and six assisted tackles for the Husson defense in the win.

The Eagles return home to open up conference play next Saturday at the Winkin Complex against SUNY Maritime. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
