Bruins power past Canucks

Anders Bjork scored a pair of goals in a four goal first period for the Boston Bruins Thursday night, powering the hosts to a 6-3 win over Vancouver at TD Garden in Boston.

In a 1-1 game in the first, the Canucks were given a five minute major penalty. The Bruins took advantage, scoring three times on the major within 1:37 to make it 4-1. Boston went 4-8 on the powerplay on the night.

Biork added an assist to go along with his two goal night for Boston (3-3-0). Patrice Bergeron added four points with a goal and three assists. Brad Marchand had a goal and two assists, David Pastrnak a goal and an assist, and David Krejci also had a goal. Anton Khudobin had 26 saves to earn the win, playing for an injured Tuuka Rask (concussion). Vancouver (2-3-1) got goals from Derek Dorsett, Thomas Vanek, and Bo Horvat. Anders Nilsson started in goal and made 13 stops on 17 shots in one period of action. Jacob Markstrom stopped 16 of 18 shots in relief.

Boston will host Buffalo Saturday at 7 p.m.
