Celtics and Bruins both in win column Thursday night

Al Horford scored 27 points and hauled down nine rebounds Thursday night, as the Boston Celtics took down the Milwaukee Bucks 96-89 at the Bradley Center.

Kyrie Irving added 24 points, three rebounds, and seven assists as Boston (3-2) went over the .500 mark for the first time in the new season with their third straight win.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 28 points and had 10 rebounds for the 3-2 Bucks. Boston returns to action Saturday night at 8 p.m. when they visit the Heat in Miami.

 

At TD Garden in Boston, rookie Danton Heinen scored his first two career NHL goals, as the Boston Bruins slipped past the San Jose Sharks 2-1.

Heinen was just called up from the minor leagues on Thursday, and paid immediate dividends. Boston goalie Anton Khudobin made 36 saves to also help the Bruins to the win.

Joe Thornton scored the lone goal for 4-5 San Jose. Thorntons marker tied him for 20th all time with Yari Kurri on the NHL points list.

Boston (4-3-1), will host the Los Angeles Kings Friday night at 7 p.m.
