Thompson, Anderson, Smestad, Plourde nominated for golf player of the year

Voting for Eastern Maine Sports Golf player of the year will begin on Thursday, November 16th. The following players are the nominees.

Logan Thompson (Mattanawcook)- Thompson won the individual class C state championship each of his four years for the Lynx. He is the first high school boys golfer in the state of Maine to win a state championship as a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. Thompson also set a school record by shooting a 66.  He also led his team to their third straight state championship scoring a 70.He won PVCs at even par, leading his team to win their fourth straight PVC championship.Logan also received a medal in every high school meet, averaging two under par regular season.

Makenzie Plourde (PVHS)- earned player of the year for class C girls. She also placed first in the girls PVC Championship.

Cole Anderson (Camden Hills)- the junior is a three-time class A state champion. Anderson has already committed to Florida State. Anderson played in the U.S. Amateur Championship in July.

Sam Smestad (Nokomis)- finished third in class B state championships behind Austin Legge and Ryan Collins (Cape Elizabeth)

Voting for golf player of the year will run from November 16th through November 21st. Field Hockey player of the year voting will start on Tuesday, November 13th.
