Seawolves snatch away win over Maine in season finale

Joe Carbone connected with Harrison Jackson for a 35 yard hailmary touchdown pass with no time remaining Saturday, to lead the #12 Stony Brook Seawolves to a 20-19 Colonial Athletic Association football win over Maine at Alfond Sports Stadium in Orono.

Stony Brook (9-2, 7-1 CAA), marched 73 yards on four plays in just 31 seconds to pull off the victory in the season finale for both teams. Maine had led the game 19-7 heading into the final quarter.

Chris Ferguson went 19-29 passing for 256 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Maine. Jared Osumah caught four passes for 100 yards and a score, while Josh Mack had 30 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown. Deshawn Stevens had 11 tackles and Kayon Whitaker had nine to lead the defense.

Maine finishes up their season at 4-6 overall, and 3-5 in the CAA. Stony Brook will await word on their opponent and location for the upcoming Div I-AA playoffs on Sunday.
