BU easily skates past Maine to split series

Shane Bowers scored a pair of goals, and Hank Crone registered a goal and an assist, to lead the #18 Boston University mens ice hockey team to a 7-0 Hockey East win over Maine Saturday night before 6,206 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

Jake Oettinger stopped all 30 Maine shots to earn the win in the Terrier net. Rob McGovern played the first 51 minutes in net for Maine, allowing six goals on 31 shots. Stephen Mundringer made three stops on four shots in relief of McGovern. BU went 1-4 on the powerplay, while Maine was 0-2. The Terriers improve 6-7-1 overall, 4-4-1 in Hockey East.

Maine slips to 4-6, 3-3 in HE. Next up for Maine is a trip across the pond to play Providence College in Belfast, Northern Ireland in the Friendship Four tournament next Friday. Faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. eastern time.
