Logan Thompson from Mattanawcook Academy received 80 percent of the vote to claim the 2017 Eastern Maine Sports golfer of the year. Sam Smestad (Nokomis) finished as runner-up with 11 percent of the vote. Cole Anderson (Camden Hills) and Makenzie Plourde (PVHS) rounded out the voting. Click here for the full results.

Thompson is the first school boy to win four individual championships in the state of Maine. He scored a 66 at the individuals. He also led his team to their third straight state championship scoring a 70.He won PVCs at even par, leading his team to win their fourth straight PVC championship. Thompson also medalled every high school meet, averaging two under par regular season.
