Adam Bertrand is Eastern Maine Sports 2017 football player of the year

Adam Bertrand was really good in the regular season. Bertrand was even better in the post season for the Maine Central Institute Huskies.

Bertrand rushed for 1250 yards and 15 touchdowns, including 475 yards and four touchdowns in four playoff games. He added a receiving touchdown during the regular season.

On Friday, Bertrand was named Eastern Maine Sports football player of the year. He will be included with all the player of the year winners in the voting for November athlete of the month, that will start this weekend.

The senior had 115 tackles and five interceptions, including three big picks during the Huskies postseason run. Bertrand had a long touchdown run in the first quarter in the Huskies state championship win over Cape Elizabeth. He was named first team offense and defense in the big 11.

The following student/athletes were also named player of the year. Field hockey- Addi Williams (MCI). Golf- Logan Thompson (Mattanawcook). Boys Soccer- Bryce Gilbert (PCHS). Girls soccer- Lexi Ireland (PVHS).

Bertrand received 46% of the 15637 votes that came in. Colby Lee from MDI finished as runner-up. The full results are below.
