Celtics fall just short in San Antonio

Kyrie Irving had 36 points Friday night, but it wasn’t enough as the San Antonio Spurs got by the Boston Celtics 105-102 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.

Manu Ganobli hit a three pointer with five seconds left to provide the difference for San Antonio (18-8). Irving had a chance to tie it with a three in the right corner, but the shot went in and out as time expired.

Jayson Tatum added 20 points and eight rebounds for 22-5 Boston. Jaylen Brown had 15 points and five rebounds, while Terry Rozier chipped in 13 points and four rebounds. LeMarcus Aldridge had 27 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs.

Boston travels to Detroit to battle the Pistons on Sunday at 4 p.m.
