Husson women fall, men stay perfect at Castleton

The Husson Eagles basketball teams finished up their Vermont road trip Saturday against Castleton. And this time it was a split for the Eagles teams.

On the womens side, Makayla Farrara poured in 21 points as Castleton stayed unbeaten overall and in the conference by knocking off Husson 71-56.

Husson (3-3, 3-1 NAC), was led by Kenzie Worcester who scored 25 points, had 10 rebounds, and dished out five assists. Worcester was 10-10 from the foul line.

Amanda Beatty added 17 for Castleton (9-0, 5-0). The Spartans shot 48 percent for the game, compared to just 32 for the Eagles.

Husson returns to action after Christmas when they travel to Bates on Friday, December 30 at 3 p.m.

 

On the mens side, another big game from Raheem Anderson kept the Eagles unbeaten at 4-0 in NAC play with an 89-74 win over the Castleton Spartans.

Husson (6-1, 4-0), broke open a one point halftime lead of 38-37 by outscoring the hosts 51-37 in the second half. Anderson finished with 24 points and eight rebounds. DJ Bussey scored 13 off the bench, while Mitch Worcester, Kyanti Blyden, and Corey Kaiser all added 10 points for the winners. The Eagles shot 52 percent and took advantage of 20 Spartan turnovers.

Nathaniel Kingsley led Castleton (4-6, 2-3) with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Husson travels to Fort Launderdale, Florida to participate in the two day Trip Sports Cruzin Classic next Sunday and Monday. The Eagles face St Marys out of Maryland Sunday at 8 p.m.
