Grant’s big first half lifts Dexter to win over Mattanawcook

DEXTER– Peyton Grant scored 17 of her game high 23 points in the first half to lead the Dexter Tigers to a 55-39 win over Mattanawcook in a class C girls basketball game on Friday afternoon.

The freshman (Grant) scored 11 points in the second quarter, including making three of her five 3 pointers. The Tigers outscored the Lynx 17-6 in the quarter and held a 32-13 halftime lead.

Grant’s classmate Avery Herrick put in 14 points, while another freshman Cheyenne Beem scored six points. Kaitlyn Webber also had six points, while Danielle Cummings and Becca Batron scored four and two points respectively. Dexter (5-1) is scheduled to travel to Bucksport on December 27th.

Natalie Tilton scored 12 points to lead the Lynx, Kim Voisine added 11, including eight in the third quarter. Tressa Libby scored seven points. Audrey Tash, Emily Tolman, and Natalie Tilton scored four, three, and two points respectively. Mattanawcook (2-3) is scheduled to host George Stevens on December 27th.
