Griffin Guerrette scored 23 points to lead Presque Isle to a 53-49 boys basketball win over MDI on Thursday night. It is the first loss of the season for the defending class B state champs. Presque Isle has four straight since a season opening loss to Washington Academy. Presque Isle will face undefeated Hermon on Saturday.
In other boys basketball action on Thursday, George Stevens defeated Calais 61-41 to earn their fifth straight win. PVHS handed Lee Academy their first loss. Mattanawcook picked up a 42-39 win over Houlton. Dexter defeated Stearns, the Tigers are now the line undefeated team in class C North boys.
In girls basketball action, MDI bounced back from their first loss of the season with an impressive 51-33 win over Presque Isle.
