CORINTH- George Stevens Academy outscored Central 29-7 in the first quarter and rolled to a 71-35 boys basketball victory on Tuesday night at Central high school.

The Eagles scored the first 11 points of the contest and didn’t have a lead in single digits after they took a 13-2 lead. Taylor Schildroth sparked the first quarter outburst with 14 of his game high 28 points in the quarter. The two time defending state champions were playing without their 6’6″ Center Max Mattson, who missed the game with a back injury.

“It is important (to start quick) because anyone on their home court can have a good shooting night,”Schildroth said. “We usually try to come out and set the tempo early, especially with our big guy (Mattson) being hurt. Luckily we shot the ball pretty well from the outside to start.”

Reece Dannenberg scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half for the Eagles. Dannenberg made five 3-pointers, including four in the first half. Schildroth added six rebounds, five steals, two assists, and two blocks. Stefan Simmons added eight points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Isaac Wardwell chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, and two assists. Percy Zentz scored six points, while Caden Mattson filled up the stat sheet with three points, seven rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Ben Cole rounded out the scoring with two points.
