Clutch free throw shooting propels Dexter to boys basketball win over Central

DEXTER- The Dexter Tigers shot 18-23 from the free throw line, including 12-15 in the fourth quarter in a 57-47 boys basketball victory over Central on Saturday afternoon at Dexter high school.

Jacob Bickford scored 12 of his game high 20 points in the second half, including 4-4 from the free throw line in the final minutes. Bickford also recorded six rebounds, five assists, and three steals for the Tigers.

The Red Devils made 8 three pointers, including five in the first half as they held a 24-23 halftime lead. The Tigers outscored Central 34-23 in the second half, including 21-10 in the fourth quarter.

Dexter out-rebounded Central 34-27. Brett Kusnierz scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds, Matt Hanscome had eight points and six rebounds, Matt Richards put in seven points (5-6 FT in second half), Trevor Richards scored six points in the fourth quarter, Kobe Pillsbury scored three points and had five rebounds, Cameron Paige added two points. Dexter (5-1) will travel to Mattanawcook Academy on Monday.

James Doucette recorded 17 points, five rebounds, and two steals to lead the Red Devils. Dylan Ham and Alex Hewitt put in eight points each. Scott Ferrie scored four points, Jay Byrum, Cameron Boyles, and Gavin Caron added three points each, while Micah Ward chipped in with one point and four assists. Central (1-6) will host Searsport on Tuesday night.
