On Sunday night, Peyton Grant from Dexter high school was named Eastern Maine Sports December athlete of the month. The freshman averaged 28 points in helping the Tigers earn wins over Schenck and PCHS to earn Charles Inn female athlete of the week on December 17th. Grant has helped the Tigers start the season with seven wins in their first eight games. Grant joins Michael Norton JR from Oceanside (October) and Carter Tolmasoff from Bucksport (November) as athlete of the month winners.

Grant received 41% of the vote. Isaac Cyr (Fort Fairfield) finished as runner-up with 21% of the vote. Logan Doucette (Old Town) finished third as a write in. Grant wasn’t the only freshman Dexter girls basketball player to receive votes. Avery Herrick and Cheyenne Beem also got write in votes. Below are the full results.
